The holiday blues get us all sometimes, and Russ has them. The holidays aren't what they used to be, work is in an uproar that makes life feel unstable, and his dating life is non-existent. He says he needs to make some changes in his life, including the way he is choosing to think about things. And what better time to think about changes than now, as the New Year approaches.
Gr8Shotz is everyman, which is what makes his vlog so appealing. He goes through the same ups and downs that you and I do, and he vlogs about daily life. He is easy to identify with and to like. His vlogs are personal, like listening to a friend.
Hey, Russ, watch your own Thanksgiving video a few dozen times; it'll encourage you. Celebrate a Merry Christmas with your family. The New Year will bring the changes you need, probably before you are ready for them. We'll be waiting for the vlog.
BTW, how much weight have you lost? Looks like about 20 pounds since April--your face is much thinner. :)
I've been looking forward to this vlog by Gr8Shotz because I wanted to see the pig. He said he met a pig at the church carnival he took his folks to. And, by the way, this was a lot cooler than any church carnival I've ever been to. They had real carnival rides, games and a midway. It was night time, and the video is a little dark in some places, but Russ did a wonderful job of capturing the carnival atmosphere--screams, voices, lights, rides, food, music--it was all there.
My favorite spots were the Irish dancing and the Sunday School Singers, and the little girl who was too scared to sing. Despite the dark, you could see the tears in her eyes. AWWW.... Russ liked the pig, and now he wants one. Maybe his dad and step-mom will get him a potbelly pig for Christmas.
Russ--Gr8Shotz--took a second job a while back, and it's killing him. It was supposed to be just a few hours during the week and one day on the weekend, but he's working more and more, and he's getting tired and cranky. As he processes it in the vlog, however, he discovers he has more to be thankful about than he does to bitch about.
Russ took his parents to their church carnival the night before he posted this vlog, and met a pig. I can hardly wait to here the rest of that story.
Ole Russ hasn't been around much recently, and people are worried. He made this vlog to reassure us he's okay. He's taken a second job and doesn't have as much time to vlog right now, but he's fine. Except he has a minor condition--YTBO. It shouldn't keep him away for long, though. He'll be back soon. At least, I hope so. We miss Gr8Shotz' quiet but subtle humor. Get well quick, Russ.
Gr8Shotz is responding to his own previous video asking if we believe in the paranormal. He says, that initially, he did not, but he has been convinced. Then Russ relates two incidents from his life that are difficult to explain. He says they are coincidence, or a memory lapse, but he shares them because they are strange. Since then, however, he has been convinced that the paranormal is real. It does exist.
FOR PETE'S SAKE, GR8SHOTZ!! YOU LIVED IN A HAUNTED HOUSE AND YOUR DAD HAD A COMMUNICATION FROM THE DEAD! And, yes, I'm yelling. Do you know what finally convinced this skeptic? An article in the Weekly World News. Yellow journalism from "The World's Only Reliable Newspaper." Irrefutable proof from this rag, this scandal sheet, this gossip weekly; a headline screaming, "New Race of Space Aliens Discovered."
Who am I to be critical? As Tommy Lee Jones said in Men in Black, it's the "best reporting on the planet."
Gr8Shotz posted this vlog before Halloween, but a discussion of the paranormal is always appropriate, right? I like the black and white video and the seriousness of his presentation, contrasted with brief flashes of the paranormal, including pictures of Bigfoot, chupacabra and a big-headed alien. Gr8shotz is a skeptic, but he'll accept that ufo's exist because he's seen them. Can we convince him of the existence of things strange and alien? We'll see when he vlogs about his viewers' responses.
In response to Tara916’s suggestion that YouTubers post what they are thankful for this year, Gr8Shotz gives us his list. It’s meaningful, and makes you stop and think about the simple things we take for granted—but should be grateful for. Thanks, Gr8Shotz, for the reminder.
From YouTube.com user: Gr8Shotz I feel cheated on this one, Gr8Shotz. It’s clearly a personal message to someone. It’s a good message, but makes me say, “Huh?!”
Russell (Gr8shotz) does a very nice job of showing us the Veteran’s Memorial Park at Tampa. It’s a good video with appropriate music. Very well done. There’s a nice contrast between the serene music, pastoral scenery and multiple shots of retired weapons of mass destruction.
“Haters of haters are almost as annoying as haters themselves.” Ignore them, delete them, block them. Don’t waste your time and talent responding to the trolls who are out there. Good advice from Gr8shotz. The real Gr8shotz. I think. He has multiple personalities, you know. Both The Psychologist and The Frickin’ Hater make appearances, too. Delete them! Block them! Ignore them!
This is without exception the best YouTube video I’ve seen. The production and background music are excellent, and the collage of images alternating with Gr8shotz memories is perfect. Posted in September of 2006, it is a beautiful reminder that we must continue to bring these personal memories out, talk about them, publish them and never, never forget them. Thanks, Gr8shotz, for this touching reminder.
Gr8shotz takes a moment to tell us who he is and what he gets out of the YouTube universe. If you want to know the man behind the vlogs, he self-reveals here. He’s real and actually a little vulnerable. Gr8 video, Gr8shotz.
This is another vlog in which Gr8shotz uses his lunch hour to connect with his audience. He tells us what it’s REALLY like to work in information technology. It’s a very casual chat with a nice guy talking about work and he speaking to other YouTube vloggers and giving advice on customer service. Not a lot of stimulating stuff here.
There was no weigh in. He didn’t especially like Pirates. He invites us to ask questions—any questions, and he’ll try to answer them in a later vlog. That should be interesting, anyway.
This is a very professionally done little black and white film of a good date gone to the dogs. Gr8shotz does a great job with the subtle loser humor and double entendre. Someone throw him a bone—please.
Here we’re privy to a little therapeutic venting. Gr8shotz wants to share how much he hates it when you buy a new CD or DVD and try to unwrap it. You can’t get into the plastic and then there’s the *&%(_&(* security tape to get off and you BITE AND YOU CHEW AND YOU STILL CAN’T GET INTO THE *^%(&^* CD…..Sorry. I got carried away.
Gr8shotz is responding to a shoutout, and telling the shouter he is too old for Star Trek (as if anybody could ever be too old for Star Trek). You knew he had to be kidding, right? I don't want to ruin the video, but I will say that if he played with his goatee, he would be a perfect Commander Riker. Right down to tugging on his shirt.
This is a video about washing. About not washing dishes. Not washing clothes, exactly. Not washing the car, or washing your face, hands, goatee. It’s Dirty, gross, icky, and a follow-up shower may be needed after viewing. Thanks for sharing Gr8shotz.
Gr8shotz looks like Friday morning before a long weekend. He "really, really, really" doesn't want to go to work. The sun is shining, birds are chirping in the background and it's going to be a perfect summer day. "Once I get inside...my attitude will change..I hope," he says, without much hope in his voice. He perfectly captures that "It's way too nice to go to work" feeling we've all experienced at one time or another.
