Bloody Woman

Someone camcordered someone's kids in someone's house to make this ~~rip-off of~~ tribute to J-horror, complete with the girl's hair hanging in her face. Amateurish, but fun for that reason, and the last shot is kind of creepy.

Extreme Photo Retouching

See the process by which professionals bleach the flaws — and humanity — out of their photographic subjects. A couple of examples here, such as the woman licking the knife, are alterations for artistic effect, but most just remove wrinkles and bumps to make the subjects more palatable to...who, really? Eye-opening if you haven't seen this sort of thing demonstrated before.

Pretty much what it sounds like — a battle royale between dozens of classic-rock album images. Slight demerit for the too-easy Michael Jackson joke, but otherwise an ingenious concept breathlessly realized. Makes me nostalgic for the days of vinyl (though some of the album covers are from the CD era).

Someone decided to do a rough animation using consecutive pages from Joyce's "Ulysses" while an Irish-accented voice reads a passage from the book. Not the smoothest animation you'll ever see, but I don't think it's meant to be. It gets across the book's verbal violence and eroticism (some of it isn't work-safe) in an appropriately craggy yet artful manner.

learning to shave

I learned how to shave from Maxim and have no younger brothers to teach, but I felt very engaged by this video of an older brother teaching his younger brother to shave. They have a wonderful repartee that’ll make you smile the whole way though. With so many videos being staged and scripted, this video of such a routine task feels very refreshing.

Extreme Trainsurfer

Maybe I’m just sentimental for 80’s movies, but this video recalls images of a certain teenage werewolf cruising around town on top of his buddy’s van. This German train surfer certainly puts Michael J. Fox to shame though; surfing the countryside at speeds of 120mph. You may be tempted to perform a similar stunt, but without access to the Mission Impossible 3 prop house you’re probably out of luck.

Scary thing is most of them were around when I started to watch wrestling when I was nine years old. That was over twenty years ago.
