So this is it. We started with several video designers and now there is only this one left... Raisin?
If you're even slightly familiar with the BRAVO TV reality show, "Project Runway" you'll love this parody done with actual video from the show spliced in a comic from the Olde English comedy team. Fantistic editing and straight, tongue-in-cheek acting. The selection of the just the right audio and video clips make this one of my favorites. I wonder if Heidi Klum has seen this.
Olde English sketch comedy videos are all very funny and always have with a little twist.
We all know that when it comes to a fine glass of wine, we should do certain things to impress the person we're with and fool them into thinking that we actually know something about the whole biz.
You know the drill: stare at the glass intently, and with mock concentration, swish it around and say some nonsense about the "legs" and them being very fine, attractive ones at that...make sure to take a deep sniff of the fragrant aroma and raise your eyes in mock appreciation, like the scent itself has somehow inspired you to suddenly write a ballad or break out into spontaneous song. Oh yes, and try to control yourself from taking down the whole glass in one gulp because you need something to take the edge off from the overwhelming stress you have over this whole wine tasting bit ... where's some good Sutter Home Zinfandel or boxed wine when you need it, huh?
The director of Olde English Comedy takes this facade one step forward in his video, "The Wine Guy." In The Wine Guy, he puts a wildly satirical spin on the whole business -- taking it to absurd (but funny) extremes as his main character markets the bottle he's serving to two rather gullible restaurant patrons. Although the acting is a bit forced and over-done, the concept is creative and the video is fun and amusing.
Olde English Comedy's other videos hit along the same vein: taking pop culture and ramping it up a notch or three. In their video, The Stakeout, two cops spy on a group of gangsters a'la Sopranos-style to perform a bust. While eavesdropping on the hard-core criminals, they discover more than what they bargained for! Again, I think the Stakeout is inspired.
The idea is creative and funny in concept, the film quality is professional, and the dialogue is entertaining and, at many times, even hysterical. The only criticism I have is echoed throughout all their videos: the acting is oftentimes exaggerated and perhaps a bit overdone. A lot of the lines seem forced as they are delivered by each of the characters; some of the reactions are also poorly timed as well, which is oftentimes noticeable to the viewer.
Don't let this sway you from taking a peak, however! Both The Stakeout and The Wine Guy are great pre-Holiday distractions while you're wilting away in your abandoned office building. I suggest watching them with a fine glass of Ledson Merlot Reserve, 2001 Vintage of course...that, as you know, was an excellent year for Merlots ... right? RIGHT?
Ben is confronted by his buddies. He is lacking a “thing.” Together they brainstorm with him to find his “thing.” After trying many different “things” they come to a conclusion; Ben’s “thing” is found when he goes back to doing what he was doing when they confronted him, before the search.
The editing in this video is fabulous. The sound is of excellent quality. The dialogue is very humorous.
Have you ever wanted to see the “real New York”? Ask a New Yorker, or not. Instead watch this video and see for yourself how to avoid the catastrophe that the young man in the video goes through.
There was a lot of thought that went into the creation of this video as it is well edited, the sound is excellent and the music fits the video well.
Are you lost? You may not be, but the guy in the video seems to be. He is trying to find his friend that he is meeting but having a difficult time doing so. This is a watch and laugh video.
The sound is of excellent quality. The dialogue will keep you laughing.
This short video clip makes fun of those loud, in-your-face TV ads; the ones with the bad acting and the repetitive, inane questions, "Don't you wish vomit stains were a thing of the past?" ... They go on and on until it's annoying. Well these guys manage to make the repetitive questioning funny. And that's the point of this one. "We actually don't have anything to sell you, we're just asking a bunch of stupid rhetorical questions." They go on so long that you have to laugh.
The editing - with the wipes and fades is done in that slick way that you only see in TV ads and infomercials. Well done. I was sold.
It is an animated soap opera and it's a mathematical soap opera. This video clip is hilarious. You don’t have to be a mathematician to enjoy this one, but it does help to know a little about pi, e, and imaginary numbers.
Brooklyn's Great, Except for...! As a native Brooklynite, I have always sympathized with growing up in Brooklyn and the undying love that comes with it. The Olde English Comedy group has chosen a rather innovative way to express their love for the "olde" school Brooklyn that thrived during the pre-Nets stadium planning.
They have a knack for utilizing all of the classic symbols of Brooklyn from the famous Brooklyn Brewery logo down to a localized map of the "new" Williamsburg. Eww, hipsters in Brooklyn! Definitley worth the watch for a good laugh that masks what's really happening in the BK. Enjoy!
