Fred Flintstone meets Star Trek TOS, with a cameo appearance by R2D2. This video is hysterical. The video is written by The Firm and Jim Jenkins, and they made a musical out of all the standard Star Trek dialogue.

"It's worse than that, he's dead, Jim." "It's life, Jim, but not as we know it." "There's Klingons on the starboard bow." And, of course, "Ye canna do that, Captain."

This little musical is populated by Flintstone versions of the Star Trek cast, dino-Klingons, alien life forms and dead red shirts.

If you like Star Trek, you'll enjoy it. If you hate Star Trek, you'll laugh yourself silly. Either way, it's a great video.

Godzilla Eats a DC 10

Wallabywombat gave us a great video--this big old earth mover type machine rolls over to a DC10, opens up his mouth and takes a great big bite out of the side. It's Godzilla in disguise! I sure hope that's not my luggage I saw on the tarmac beside the plane.

Global Warming Its Effects Now

This is a lovely, well-produced video about global warming. The music is haunting and works very well with the slide show. It's not completely clear how all the slides relate to the topic of global warming, though. Jomickler seems to be working off of the information presented in An Inconvenient Truth. Dialogue or titles would have helped make the connection clearer.

Both the human and the cat in this clip show extreme patience with each other. I didn’t know operant conditioning could work on cats! By the end, the cat flipped the switch and went to his food bowl every time. And his human put food in the bowl every time. I wonder if the cat thought he had trained the human to put food in his bowl.

The Paradox of Choice and the Secret to Happiness

I know, I know, who wants to watch a lecture on the internet? It’s OKay, you don’t have to, but if you have 10 minutes to spare then I promise this one is worth your time.

The video seems like it was recorded at a talk Professor Barry Schwartz was giving in conjunction with his new book “The Paradox of Choice: Why More is Less”.

Some of you may be familiar with the philosophical idea of Americans having freedom from everything and thus having freedom to nothing. This is basically what Schwartz’s lecture is all about (although he never says that).

This isn’t just a rehashing of European thinking however, Schwartz is a psychologist so he uses this concept to explain the widespread depression in affluent societies.

So if you made it this far and if you watched the video, what do you think? Do we have too many choices? Are we paralyzed and disappointed? Or do we have greater personal responsibility which we are not properly taught to exercise? Any insights and comments would be appreciated.

Water Blob in Zero Gravity

This clip that lasts for just under three minutes will strike the "wow factor" in your mind. Certainly the tricks played with water by the host in this clip are pretty amazing when it is held at zero gravity. With the audio in the background explaining each sequence, the host dutifully tells what is going on. While humor may be stuck in the backseat for now, water will certainly be looked at a little differently after seeing this!

F14 Flyby Explosion

Here we watch an F-14 fly closely by a Navy ship as smoke and flames shoot out, and then ... BAM! The plane explodes without warning. You can hear the crew go wild on the deck of the ship after the sudden explosion.

Tiny .

Not the funniest video on youtube.com, but Tiny is a great informative quick flick showing the infinite size of the universe. The Earth is compared size-wise to all the other planets, among other things. The music makes the video, gotta love it!

A disturbing two-minute presentation based on the popular children’s show, "Sponge Bob Square Pants." All I could figure was that this is one of poor Sponge Bob's nightmares, or it's Bob on a bad Heroine trip. A lame talking hand and two obese kids introduce this scary farce, but nice graphics and a fun musical accompaniment.

A touch pad can be used with both hands to revolutionize productivity as a user interface with a computer. The touch pad has been around for a long time; these experimental applications are new. They show how to manipulate sound and color for art, or editing photos, or even learning geometry and advanced math in 3-D. The invention can be used as a game, but just as easily be used to create new games. It gives a greater range of abilities and multitasking to business applications as well.

A pool filled with non-newtonian fluid

I can't understand what they're saying but I don't really need to. This is cool fun to watch! It's a pool filled with a mixture of cornstarch and water mixed in a concrete mixing truck. It becomes a non-Newtonian fluid. When stress is applied to the liquid it exhibits properties of a solid - like walking on a water bed.

Plane Crashes into water Pilot Ejects

Captains and pilots always go down with their ships. We witness a military jet suffer engine failure while hovering during a demo as people on a beach play in the water. The jet crashes into the water and the pilot ejects with a parachute, only to float back onto the sinking plane.
