YouTube is a breeding ground for crap crap crap. There are so many boring, uninsightful, exhausting directors in the world and YouTube is the unlimited Public Access television that these same people put their crap crap crap on. Sometimes it can easily be passed off as kitsch, a two minute spit in the wind that we can all watch and giggle at the director's ineptitude and then turn off with a wince. Sometimes we can't even watch for more than ten seconds because the boreitude is off the charts. Sometimes, though, we come across a little homegrown gem.

YouTube is a library of the ephemeral, the passing moments that no one would attempt to document, the medium for those who never really had a voice before it existed. Namely young directors with a trunk full of spare talent but without the clout or the money tree in the backyard that some people seem to be born with. Cherrera7 is one of those few directors on YouTube who, with a little spit and a polishing rag, could emerge as a real player in film.

Cherrera7 is a masterful Director of Photography with countless static shots that neither bore nor destroy the mood of the film with much movement. Notice the scene where the main character runs back and forth off and on screen to grab a bag he is arguing with himself about. No overbearing monologue. A static shot. Its simple and clean and sweet. The final shot is a beut too.

The actors are obviously amateur, except maybe the main guy, and he reigns in their speaking roles with clever cuts and edits. Best of all, and a usual downfall amongst amateur directors, is that this story is not told by the plot, nor the dialogue, but by the medium itself. With fast cuts, hazy memories fading in and out, and simple acting Cherrera7 has created a cool little cucumber.

The biggest tool that a director has while filming is control. Control of shots, cuts, actors, lines, etc. If he or she doesn't like something the distinction between a good and bad director is how many times he or she is willing to go through it to Get. It. Right. Peter Jackson allegedly took 40 shots of one five second scene for Lord of the Rings, and I'm sure thats not even the largest number out there. Point is this: a director knows what he or she wants and will stop at nothing to get it. Cherrera7 appears to be kicking away the bramble and thicket on his path to directordom. This film is by no means perfect, but the he has some raw lump talent and seems to be moderately patient enough to pull off what he's going for with this nearly dialogueless, Tarantinoesque film.

Lets hope YouTube helps him get there. Be ready to be in it for the long haul though. This is a 15 minute long endeavor.

“Head On apply directly to the forehead! Head On apply directly to the forehead!” By now you’ve probably been driven insane by Head On’s marketing program, and I’m sure you’re not the first. For a long time many people could recite the commercial, but couldn’t say what the product did and almost no one had actually tried it. So how well does Head On alleviate headaches? Well that’s what this product test is all about. Spricket24 does a great job testing this product. She goes though all the key factors (like smell and looks) and then explains very fully how it feels after she’s used Head On. Make sure to watch past the credits, because there’s a pretty funny outtake at the end.

These guys and their amazing skills with a soccer ball, well "Football" to most of the world. Wow. I am in awe everytime I watch this. The dark skinny guy is great. Nike commercials in general are always so upbeat, fun and 'cool' that you have to stop and watch. And here's one without the stick man. And one here with non-pros and here showing off their impressive skills. And one last without the clothes. Just do it! Enjoy.

I used to say that the best late night host was Jon Stewart and that the funniest one is Craig Ferguson. I might change that and give both titles to Craig. In this clip we see a comedic parody of Rumsfeld's press briefings. He's quite the multi-tasker. One of my favorite clips and definetly a must see.

This guy tries to buy stuff at a store with Super Mario Coins, making the store owners mad. I really like their reactions, but mostly that the guy with the fake coins tries to make them realize how valuable and how hard he worked to get them even though he's being threatened. Cute but not so funny.

I love it when TV commercials are funny to make their point. Like this banned IKEA advertisement. I can understand why some might not appreciate it but we love it as it's fun and not too in-your-face. A kid plays with his toys, and, uh, let's just say he plays with someone else’s toys too.

Finally you don’t have to be a Shaolin Monk to get beautiful women to jump on your stomach. This video shows a guy lying on the floor while two women jump off an office chair onto his stomach. It’s a very bare bones production; there’s only one camera angle and no music to drown out his grunts. The frills are unnecessary though, as the video is short and you’ll be laughing out loud when the girls stand on his face. At the end there’s a quick blurb as to how you can survive people jumping on your stomach. So quick run out and grab a couple hot girls and start practicing today.

This video made me laugh so hard I just had to share it with you. My brother used to fish, so it immediately caught my eye. Watch as two fishermen just out on the water enjoying their day are taken down by an Orca. The whale just comes out of nowhere. All appears well afterwards. These beautiful animals are dangerous. Score one for Willy? Check out this short video.

You can never go wrong with a little video fun from the Star Wars universe. This video is a short film that shows a bit of a softer side to the Tusken people that live on Luke Skywalker's home world of Tatooine. They aren't just savage killers. They have a heart and feelings too! This video is a quick and funny view. Check it out!

This hilarious video takes us behind the scenes of the filming of a Godzilla movie using action figures. In this world Godzilla is gay and his enemy in this film is a drunk sleeping with Mary Kate. Some funny dialogue in this one that really make it a great funny video to watch. Check it out!

This video shows a pretty neat trick. Watch as Greg Kennedy performs his latest juggling trick while inside a cone of some sort. He begins with just three balls, but by the end he is juggling seven. My one fault with this video is I think it could have been improved with some musical accompaniment put in after the video is shot. We're left just watching him juggle. Some music might have added something to it. It's a great trick though. Definitely worth checking out.

This video is a sneak peak of what looks to be a longer fan made film. Hell Hare is just that. We have the bunny from hell, and it is after the two main characters in the film. We don't see the bunny itself in the last minute or two of this video, so for a bit there I lost that getting away from this hellish hare was meant to be the focus of this little video. Not a bad little movie though. Definitely worth a quick view.

After finding the YMCA YouTube tribute this morning, I found this one. This is another YouTube song. No concept to this video. Just a guy and his guitar and his song. Original lyrics are pretty hilarious, but the singing voice needs some work! My recommendation? Don't quit the day job and hit the tour circuit just yet. The song is great though. Check it out!

The Papdits are CBS' answer to the recent Borat craze taking over the world at the moment. In this installment, the mother takes her two teenagers to a business meeting because her son wants to start a business. A bit dry, but there is some humor to be found in this short clip.

Here is another from the stupid criminal file. This video shows another criminal making a feeble attempt at escape. However, he is on video enough to be arrested. This video comes to us from the UK, and it is definitely good for a quick laugh.

The Walk is just what it says - a video of someone walking. In this case, it is one man. What makes this video interesting though is the music and effects. There is some nice camera work in the beginning as well. However, once the man starts videotaping his feet the video loses its flair for me. A great beginning. It would have been nice to see more than his feet for the last thirty seconds though.

Good morning out there in YouTube land! I found this cute little video first thing morning. It is an ode to YouTube using the music to the popular seventies hit, YMCA. It is a quick little music video that is sure to tickle your funny bone. The lyrics are original by the video's creator. I also enjoy that there is a small amount of plot to this video. They don't just start singing. It's a fun video to watch, and it is one of the hottest videos on YouTube today.

This just in: the real reasons Donald Rumsfeld had to step down. This will not stand. This is another great video from thesilentpatriot who consistently posts intriguing, interesting, news worthy and in this case, very entertaining stuff. Keep them coming!

Before there was YouTube, when you'd be veggin' out on the couch and you'd have to suffer those TV commercials that asked such questions as, "Are your bills piling up? Are you tired of living from paycheck to paycheck?" This video takes it one, well, 10 steps further.

Blame Society Productions produces a lot of humorous and unpredictable shorts, this is no different and it's something everyone can identify with. Though at the conclusion of this one I thought it should have looped back to the original questions and go in to those posed by personal injury attorneys, with a twist: "Were you killed in an auto accident? Are your funeral expenses piling up...?"

You'll never watch those incessant TV commercials the same way again.

Who says teens (or a 20-year-old in this case) can't make professional quality videos? We don't like the lead-in music but still we agree, it's 'The dopest, illest, freshest myspaciest rap ever written.' You go Boyz! Personality, upbeat flow and pizzaz. Dope, Yo!

We'll continue to watch PeeDeeFlo for additional interesting productions, but so far his man-on-the-street interviews during the Anime Expo 2006 - Part 1 - The Beginning is the only other one worthy of a mention for now. But we'll be watching.

We love Borat. Usually lovably clumsy in his speech, but in this case, he gets physical. Shades of Chevy Chase. In his own "Antiques Road Show" it has an especially nice zinger at the conclusion. His dry wit along with people's honest answers are always priceless. "Why you try to sell me old things? You think I am stupeed just because I foreign?" This one is very funny from beginning to end. This is one of the few that I watched three times to squeeze the full enjoyment from it... And to keep laughing.
